The I-235 Underpass Project, totaling $88 million in construction costs, covered the construction of a new BNSF Steel Truss 2 Span (275’, 275’) rail bridge over I-235, construction of a new 4,200’ track alignment across the new rail bridge, the demolition, and construction of the new 50th Street Bridge over the BNSF.

RailPros provided the structural reviewer for the project who was responsible for the review and approval of all structural construction submittals and RFIs for conformance with BNSF and AREMA specifications on behalf of the BNSF Railroad. This included but was not limited to

  • temporary shoring systems within the right-of-way and
  • supporting rail loadings,
  • bridge girder erection,
  • bridge demolition plans over BNSF tracks,
  • material submittals,
  • design changes.

RailPros also coordinated inspection efforts and documentation of the steel truss field fabrication. RailPros monitored the testing of all materials and provided railway construction oversight for all elements of the BNSF construction. This complex project just north of downtown Oklahoma City was the largest construction project in the Oklahoma DOT history.
